I grew up in the 80s and my musical identity was shaped when hair bands where hot (which seems strange today – perhaps it was a conspiracy of the spandex industry). So to date, even though I try to keep an open aperture if musical styles as a guitar player, if I pick up a guitar and play without thinking about it too much, power cords and hammering comes out of it automatically. It’s juvenile but true.
In the summer of 2006 I decided to experiment with something different. I bought a synth-guitar and recorded a short album called “Dance Of Ages”. The music is very light, almost no percussion, and I tried to make it harmonically and melodically rich. The cool thing about a synth guitar is that you can play an instrument like the flute but not have to take any breath, and “bend the strings” to play the Blues. So some interesting things can be done musically.
Those who are less into rock music and looking for something more on the soft side may like Dance Of Ages as a soundtrack for The Ride. “Human Signals” is me recording in my basement. Hope you like it – drop me a line and tell me what you think 🙂
